The government should introduce a retail policy to make it easier for traders to do business

NEW DELHI: The government is working to bring a national retail policy brick and mortar retail traders with the purpose of promotion ease of doing business“said a senior official on Monday. Sanjiv, Joint Secretary, Department of Promotion of Industry and Domestic Trade (DPIIT), said the policy would help provide better infrastructure and more credit to traders.
He said the department is also working to introduce an e-commerce policy for online retailers.
“We want there to be synergy between e-commerce and retailers,” Sanjiv said at the FMCG and e-commerce conference here.
The department is also in the process of establishing an insurance scheme for all retailers.
The accident insurance system will especially help the small traders of the country, he added.
“The government is trying to change the policy not only in e-commerce, but also in national retail trade policy it will be for physical traders who will introduce ease of doing business, provide better infrastructural facilities, provide more credit and provide all benefits to traders,” he said.
The joint secretary called upon the industry to mobilize for the production of high quality products.
