According to an official notification, the Assam board HSLC English exam has been canceled following reports from local authorities that several students at a particular exam center were involved in “unfair practices during the examination”.
The Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) has canceled the Class 10 English Examination in one of the centers of Cachar district. The decision to cancel the English language exam came after reports surfaced of students using unfair means at Cachar’s JR Ucchotor Madhyamik Vidyalaya Gonirgram Higher Secondary Examination Centre.
The Assam Board has not announced the re-examination date yet. According to an official release shared by Education Minister Ranoy Pegu, the English exam for HSLC has been canceled following reports from local authorities that several students at a particular exam center were involved in “dishonest practices during the exam”.
SEBA will take appropriate action upon receipt of the report. SEBA has also urged students to appear for the remaining examinations without using any unfair means. The board has sought reports from district-level committees and the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination centers to report any anomalies in the coming dates of the examination.
The Assam Board has appealed to the candidates, examination officers, invigilators and parents to cooperate for the smooth functioning of the examinations. Over the past few days, SEBA has received verbal complaints from other examination centers and reports have been sought from the district authorities concerned, the board said.
The Assam Board conducted the Class 10 English Examination on Friday, March 3 as per schedule. Currently, the HSLC 10th exam is being conducted in 912 centers across the state for around 4.22 lakh candidates. According to the official date table, the class 10 exams will continue till March 20.
HSLC 2023 exams will conclude on the last day with Advanced Maths, Geography, Commerce, Home Science, History, Sanskrit, Computer Science, Nepali, Arabic and Persian exams. Earlier, the Assam Board had completed the practical exams from February 24 to February 25.
