Maruti, Hyundai’s market share fell in February; Tata Motors Earnings: Report

Maruti Suzuki India and Hyundai Motor India saw their market share decline in February, while Tata Motors, Mahindra and Kia India witnessed year-on-year growth last month.

Retail sales of Maruti Suzuki stood at 1,18,892 units last month compared to 1,09,611 units in February 2022, according to retail sales data compiled by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).

The car’s market share fell to 41.40 percent in February from 42.36 percent a year ago.

Similarly, Hyundai Motor India’s market share fell to 13.62 percent last month as against 14.95 percent in February 2022.

The company retailed 39,106 units last month as compared to 38,688 units in the same month last year.

Tata Motors’ retail sales rose to 38,965 units in February from 34,055 units a year ago, according to FADA. Its market share increased to 13.57 percent last month from 13.16 percent in February 2022.

Similarly, Mahindra & Mahindra saw its market share grow to 10.22 percent last month from 7.06 percent in February 2022. Retail sales of the primary car in Mumbai rose to 29,356 units in February from 18,264 units last year.

Kia India’s retail sales rose to 19,554 units from 13,623 units in February 2022, translating into a market share of 6.81 percent, up from 5.27 percent last year.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Skoda Auto Volkswagen Group also witnessed a year-over-year increase in market share in February.

Honda Cars, Renault, MG Motor India and Nissan Motor India saw their market share decline last month compared to February 2022.

FADA said it has collected registration data from 1,348 out of 1,434 RTOs (Regional Transport Offices) across the country.
