Consulting firms were the final placements for the 58th batch of the two-year MBA program at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, followed by finance, sales and marketing companies, IIM Calcutta said.

The last placement drive, which ended on February 24, secured 573 offers for the entire 58th batch. The process was conducted in a hybrid mode, the report said.
The consulting sector hired the most (232 offers), followed by the financial sector (86 offers), and the two sectors accounted for 55.5 percent of the total hires, the report said.
Leading consulting firms like Accenture Strategy, Bain & Co, Boston Consulting Group, Kearney and McKinsey & Co have become the top recruiters in the consulting sector.
Sales and marketing (52 offers) and general management (82 offers) accounted for 23.4 percent of the total hires, followed by Aditya Birla Group, Tata Administrative Services, Vedanta and others. companies like are among the best recruiters in this sector.
Top software services and e-commerce brands continued to show strength, accounting for about 18.2 percent of hires.
Top recruiters include Amazon, Adobe, Flipkart, Microsoft, Navi, Paytm, Salesforce, Zomato, etc.
The placement season ended with students earning an average annual compensation of ₹35.07 lakh and an average compensation of ₹33.67 lakh, while the top 25 percentile of students (in terms of offered salary) earned an average annual compensation of ₹50.86 lakh.
