Florence Pugh revealed why she chooses intense roles in films during the premiere. Good Man on Wednesday, co-star Zach Braff
Pugh and Braff reunited for the premiere of their upcoming film, Good Man in London. The film was produced, written and directed by Braff, and Pugh co-produced the film in addition to starring in it.
In a Q&A session following the premiere, the Pew star opened up to the audience about choosing to play intense roles in films.
“It’s no secret that I choose only very intense roles,” he continued. “This is not the first time that I have shed tears in every scene I have participated in. I like to see the ugliness in people. I like to be raw.”
He further said, “I like to be given a script where it challenges me and I have never chosen a role unless I am scared of it. This is someone who knows me, knows my potential and wants to work with me. I think it would be weird if she had Nancy Meyers write for me, “So… you’re not going to cry in this movie.” I was like, “Oh my God!” I would say.
Braff, the film’s writer, also spoke about writing the script during the COVID-19 lockdown.
“I wanted to tell the story because I felt these emotions. I lost a lot of people in my life that were very important to me,” Braff said.
“We’re locked in and it’s time to write. I mean, there was nothing left to do but start the script because I wanted to do it, I love it, and I wanted to write something for Florence, and this is what came out of me,” he added.
