“I looked at him and said, ‘Oh, but I’m released,'” the 77-year-old said.
Elsewhere in the interview, Hawn also talked about producer Harvey Weinstein, as he said, “Harvey basically ruined me and Madonna.”
Reflecting on his 2003 engagement Chicago movie, Hawn explained: “I said, ‘Come with me (no pun intended).’ Because I know what you’re doing. We made a deal.’
Hawn said that although the project was “canned,” Weinstein paid him for his work.
“You stand up to a bully and sometimes you win.” I said to him, “You know what the best thing you can pay me for? Not money. You have restored my faith in dignity and ethics.’ I didn’t know…” Hawn pointed out.
Referring to Weinstein’s conviction for rape and sexual assault allegations, Hawn added, “He’s finally living with his karma.”
