Netflix has pulled part of its comedy special Selective Rage after it botched Chris Rock’s Will Smith joke.
The comedian addressed the infamous moment at the 2022 Oscars in his latest stand-up show, in which the actor slapped Aladdin Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett in the face after telling a joke to Smith.
During a live Netflix performance, Rock joked, “Years ago, his wife said he should drop the Oscars. I can’t run it, because his person was not nominated in the nomination “Emancipation”.
“The biggest part [expletive] always. Well, that’s it [expletive] gives me [expletive] contusion. No, not Emancipation, me [expletive] make fun of. Concussion.”
However, Netflix has since fixed the bug as viewers have noticed that the slider has been removed. The fix was noted by Vulture’s Jesse David Fox, who said it “raises the question of whether there were other fixes.”
Another Twitter user said he would “keep it the way it is” and compared it to George Lucas going back and changing Star Wars to include more CGI.
Other users were disappointed by the edit, with one person commenting: “@netflix’s editing of the Chris Rock special is disappointing.”
