Seth Rogen spoke candidly about the movie reviews in a mental health discussion on the “Diary of a CEO” podcast.
The comedian told host Stephen Bartlett that the negative comments were “devastating”. “I think if a lot of critics knew how painful it is for the people who made the things they’re writing about, they’d second-guess how they wrote those things,” Rogen said.
“It’s devastating. I know people who have never recovered from it – a year, decades of damage [film reviews]. It’s very personal… It’s very painful when you talk about your personal image being institutionalized, and it’s something that people carry with them, literally, their whole lives, and I can understand why. It’s horrible.”
“For Green Hornetthe reviews came out and it was pretty bad,” Rogen said.
“People hated it. People were very happy that they didn’t like him. But it opened to $35 million, the biggest weekend I’ve ever been involved with. It was very good. It’s good sometimes. You can understand the feeling of success sometimes.”
For Rogen, the negative comments were more difficult to deal with Interview“, said the actor.
“It felt a lot more personal. Green Hornet I felt like I was the victim of a big fad. It was a conceptual failure, not a creative failure on our part. In “The Interview” people looked at us like we were a creative failure and it was a drain.
The Pineapple Express According to the actor, he overcomes negative comments by having a nice dinner or going to his beach house. He added: “Open any weekend. This is stress. It’s like giving birth, it’s a very painful process.”
The actor said that he is working to overcome it all. Rogen recently received rave reviews for Steven Spielberg’s Oscar nomination Fablemen. The actor will lend his voice to Bebop in the future Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is also its executive producer.
