Sharon Stone revealed her erotic drama Basic instinct had a profound effect on his personal life.
During the scene Table for Two with Bruce Bozzi, the actor recalled taking custody of his son in 1992, ten years after the release of the Paul Verhoeven film.
“I lost custody of my son,” Sharon said. “The judge asked my boy, my little, little boy, ‘You know your mom makes movies?’ he asked. This kind of abuse by the system is abuse, what a parent I am because of making this film.”
“People are walking around without clothes on regular TV,” he said.
“You saw my possible nakedness for like 16th of a second and I lost custody of my child… I ended up at the Mayo Clinic with extra heartbeats in the upper and lower chambers of my heart.”
Roan, 64, was adopted in 2000 after exchanging vows with investigative journalist Phil Bronstein in 1998.
The Silver After the star split from Bronstein in 2004, it was believed that she had given up full custody of her son because of the erotic thriller.
“It broke my heart,” he added, “it literally broke.”
Stone previously revealed in her 2021 memoir that she was “punished for changing the rules about how we see women” and that she “took a nap every afternoon” and was “unable to work” for years.
