Helen Mirren defies the youth stereotype with her “radical” long hair

Dame Helen Mirren thinks her long hair is “too radical”.

The 77-year-old veteran actress admitted that women don’t have long hair after a certain age. Mirren defying the stereotype of growing her hair long during Covid-19, the actress showed off at the Lorraine show.

“Your hair shouldn’t grow long after a certain age.

“But during Covid I started growing my hair out and I haven’t had long hair since I was 20. It grew and grew and grew and I didn’t bother to cut it.”

“I thought, you know, this is really cool, I think I’ll stick with it for a while. It will come out eventually.

“But I like it, it’s very radical.”

Mirren also spoke about what it means to ‘fly the flag’ for women in their sixties.

“Life does not stop. Creativity doesn’t stop and passion doesn’t stop and energy doesn’t stop unless you decide to stop it.

“So it’s just keep pushing yourself and never give up. Find pleasure in your life if you can.”

The Oscar-winning actor currently has three projects lined up, including a superhero film Shazam! Wrath of the Gods. Mirren was made a Dame (DBE) in 2003 for services to drama.
