2023 Oscars Producers Will Smith And Chris Rock Want To ‘Move On’ From Slapgate

Producers at the 2023 Oscars have revealed how the awards ceremony will feature Will Smith’s famous slap at the 2022 event.

Last year at the 94th Academy Awards The pursuit of happiness star took the stage and was slapped by host Chris Rock after he joked about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith’s shaved head due to her alopecia diagnosis.

Later that evening, Smith also received a Best Actor nomination and used his speech to apologize to the Academy and other nominees for the sudden and extreme reaction.

The next day, Smith again apologized to the comedian via social media.

At a recent press conference, Academy Awards executive producer Molly McNearney said that this year’s awards will bring back humor, but the show won’t be all about the story.

However, since Smith left the Academy after the blow, the infamous incident at this year’s presentation could not be completely ignored.

“We’re going to acknowledge that and then we’re going to move on. We don’t want to compare this year to last year. It’s definitely something we’re going to deal with and deal with comedically,” McNearney said.
