The Himachal Pradesh State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on Saturday booked four people for allegedly tampering with OMR sheets to help candidates crack the Junior Office Assistant (JOA) (IT) (Postcode 939) examination held on April 24 last year, officials said.
The case was registered on the basis of an inquiry after the JOA (IT) (Post Code 965) recruitment exam paper was published on December 23 last year, they said.
During the investigation, it was found that two persons, Kishori Lal and Madan Lal, posted to the now defunct Himachal Pradesh State Staff Selection Commission (HPSSC) in Hamirpur, tampered with the OMR sheets of two candidates and helped them in their selection. One of the candidates said that he was the son of Madan Lal, while the other was his neighbour.
The nephew of HPSSC senior assistant Uma Azad and two others, who were caught by vigilantes while selling the JOA (IT) exam question paper on December 23 last year, scored extremely high marks and the allegations are being probed. “, the officials said.
A case has been registered against Madan Lal, his son Vishal Choudhary, Kishori Lal and Dinesh Kumar in connection with the case, they said.

The JOA (IT) paper leak came to light on December 23 last year when the vigilance police arrested Azad with the solved question paper and Rs 2.5 lakh in cash.
So far, eight people have been arrested in connection with the case – Azad, his sons Nikhil and Nitin, Sanjeev Tout, his brother Shashi Pal, Neeraj, Ajay Sharma and Tanu Sharma.
The state government suspended the HPSSC in December due to the paper leak. He postponed all the upcoming exams before disbanding the commission last month.
