According to sources, PCB management committee chairman Najam Sethi contacted Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and other players on Sunday and informed them that they will be given rest for the above series.

The board is concerned about the workload of the players. Therefore, the board believes that this is an important decision with the future in mind.

Babar and Rizwan explained to Sethi that they were available for the serial. However, it is up to the board to decide whether they should be selected or not.

According to media reports, Shaheen Afridi has also been advised to rest, surprisingly given that he is set to replace Babar as captain.

Interestingly, Shaheen took to his Twitter account on Monday morning to post a picture of himself standing behind Babar, indicating his indirect support for the Pakistan captain.

However, he did not tweet in support of Babar, after which he asked to rest for the serial.

Giving rest to star cricketers can disrupt the unity of the team and adversely affect the dressing room.
