Punjab School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that on the first day of the special admission drive, the target of enrolling one lakh new students in government schools has been achieved.

The minister said that the goal of admitting 1 million new students to state educational institutions was achieved on the first day of the special admission campaign.

The department recorded 1,00,298 admissions during the campaign, which was organized from 8 am to 10 pm on Friday, Bains said.

“Enthusiasm can be seen from the fact that despite the server of the departmental website being down, admissions continued till late night,” the minister said in a statement, adding that many students were widely transferred in the government. schools of private schools.

He said Fatehgarh Sahib district registered 134.6% enrollment against the target, while students from Ferozepur, Barnala, Amritsar, Bathinda, Kapurthala, Patiala, SBS Nagar, Malerkotla, Fazilka, Tarn Taran and Sangrur also got admission in higher government schools. .

“From the response to the admissions campaign, it is clear that people support the policies of the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann,” he said.

Bains said the state government has taken many initiatives such as running reputed schools, timely supply of uniforms and books, provision of clean washrooms and construction of new rooms and boundary walls to ensure quality education in the school.

Besides, the state government had recruited teachers in large numbers last year, he added.

The minister said that the campaign will continue till March 31 in every government school in the state.
