The information was shared by Union Minister of State for Education Annapurna Devi in ​​her written reply in the Lok Sabha.

According to the data, 9,30,531 primary school children are out of school, including 5.02 million boys and 4.27 million girls.

Uttar Pradesh has 3.96 lakh out-of-school children, followed by Bihar with 1.34 lakh and Gujarat with 1.06 lakh.

“Under the Samagra Shiksha scheme, all states and Union Territories (UTs) have to conduct a household survey to identify out-of-school children (OoSC).

“This department has developed an online module to compile the data of identified OoSCs for each state and UT and compare them with Special Training Centers (STCs) on the PRABANDH portal,” said Devi.

In order to bring these children, age-appropriate admissions and residential and non-residential education for older children, seasonal hostels and camps, special training centers in the workplace, transport and escort facilities are also supported. to the formal education system.

“The rates for special education are Rs 6,000 per child per year for non-residential courses and Rs 20,000 per year for residential courses.

“From 2021-22, financial assistance of up to Rs.2,000 per annum will be provided to support 16-19-year-old PGCEs belonging to socio-economically disadvantaged groups to complete their education through NIOS/SIOS and access course materials. and certification,” he added.
