Eva Longoria is all about ‘making a difference’ without running for office

Eva Longoria recently said that she loves politics, but will not run for office.

In a new interview CBS Sunday Morning“The truth is, you don’t have to be a politician to be a politician,” Eva said.

Previously, Eva founded the Latino Victory Project, a political action committee, and campaigned for Joe Biden and Barack Obama during the presidential elections.

The actress continued: “I think this is the biggest myth. People say, “You have to run for office to make a difference.”

“I’m going to make a difference,” the 47-year-old added.

Eva was one of the industry’s few Latina stars, so she felt obligated to speak out.

“I quickly realized that I was going to have a platform or a voice,” he said Desperate Housewives star.

Eva said, “My mentor, [civil rights activist] Dolores Huerta, this is the person who actually told me. He said, “One day your voice will be heard, so you have something to say.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Eva talked about cultural identity and dividing her time between Mexico and the United States.

“When I was in the United States, [I hear], ‘Oh, you’re Mexican.’ And when I go to Mexico, they go, “Oh, American.” Do I wait? Yes, me both. I am 100% Mexican and 100% American at the same time,” the actress noted.
