Actors Michael Jordan and Jonathan Majors supported actress Angela Bassett. Lost to Jamie Lee Curtis In the nomination “Best Supporting Actress”. 95th Academy Awards Sunday night.
“Hey, sis,” Jordan began as she and Majors took the stage to present the best cinematography award. The words were a direct reference to 2018’s Black Panther, in which Jordan’s character said the same thing to Bassett, who plays Killmonger Ramonda.
The majors then added, “we love you.”
A win for Bassett, nominated for his role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, would be the actor’s first Oscar win for a role in a Marvel film. This was Bassett’s second Oscar nomination.
The actress won Best Supporting Actress almost three decades ago for her role as Tina Turner in 1993’s What’s Love Got To Do With It.
for the 95th Academy Awards, Bassett thought about his career and told “CBS Mornings” host Gayle King about the shocking loss in 1994.
“Now … you hope and pray and wish, but I don’t think ‘I’ve been robbed,'” Bassett said. “It’s too bad an emotion to carry with me for the rest of my life.”
