The Himachal Pradesh government has adopted a “zero tolerance” policy on unfair means during examinations and all educational institutions have been directed to take strict action against those found guilty, Education Minister Rohit Thakur said on Sunday.
“Malpractices in the conduct of examinations are a matter of serious concern as it undermines the entire purpose of conducting examinations and maintaining the sanctity of examinations is the top priority of the government to motivate honest and hardworking students,” he said in a statement issued here. Asserting that it is the responsibility of the state government to ensure free and fair examinations and take all proactive measures to prevent malpractice, Thakur said instructions have been given to form a special high-level committee at the university or institution level to check and prevent it. using unfair means in exams. “The committee will be held accountable if such violations are found,” he added. The vice-chancellors of all private universities have also been instructed to ensure that unfair means are avoided in examinations and students involved in unfair practices will face possible strict action, the release said.
“The number of flying squads will be increased to conduct unannounced inspections at examination centers and senior officers of the education department have also been instructed to maintain vigilance,” the minister said.
