Wonder Woman Filmmaker Patty Jenkins has named the 2023 Oscars for Best Director, where no female director has been nominated.

“It still has a long way to go. It really takes a long time to see the different awards. I really appreciate the efforts they are making, but we have a long way to go,” Jenkins continued.

The 2023 Oscars went to the films “Language” and “The Female King” directed by women.

Meanwhile, Till director Chinonye Chukwu also hit out at the film industry’s “shameless misogyny” after the Oscars slammed the film.

Gina Prince-Bythewood, the director of the film “The King of Women”, also said that her film was excluded from the awards: “It’s not a joke. It’s a reflection of where the academy stands and the consistent chasm between black excellence and recognition.”

He continued, “As I’ve been going through this awards season, I’ve been surprised by members of the Academy who don’t want to see the movie. At some of our screenings, people thought it was a compliment to say they had to drag me there because they didn’t think it was the movie for them, or they talked about contemporaries they couldn’t convince to come with them, and they were surprised at how much they loved the movie. Hearing this over and over, it’s hard to stomach.”
