The Telangana government has announced reduced working hours for all schools in the state after the approaching summer, with temperatures reaching 36-38 degrees Celsius in Hyderabad.

In the circular of the education director of the school, the regional joint directors and district education workers were informed about the holding of half-day classes. The new school timings in Telangana are 8 am to 12:30 pm and lunch is served at 12:30 pm.

The order applies to all schools – primary, upper primary and secondary schools under government, government and private management. Officials were asked to convey the order to schools and monitor its implementation.

As reported, special classes for 10th grade students will continue due to their preparation for SSC. Students will take their exams in April and schools serving as SSC centers will continue to function from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

“Special classes will continue to prepare students of class X for the April 2023 SSC public exam. “Schools with SSC examination centers will work from 13.00 to 17.00,” the order states.

It also added that “all the zonal joint, school education directors and district education officers in the state are directed to convey the above orders to the schools functioning under all the boards and monitor their implementation.”
