Danone proposes to appoint Sanjiv Mehta as an independent director

MUMBAI: Sanjiv Mehta, who retired as MD and CEO of Unilever India (HUL) on June 26 this year, has been nominated as an independent director on the board of global food and beverage giant Danone.
Danone said in a statement that the proposed appointment, if approved at Danone’s April 27 shareholder meeting, would mean a complete overhaul of the board of directors.
Mehta will then join the Danone board from July 1, 2023.
In the statement, Gilles Schnepp, Chairman of the Danone Board of Directors, said: “The proposed appointment of Sanjiv Mehta is another positive step for Danone and represents a swift and complete renewal of the Danone Board.
