Demi Lovato makes her directorial debut with the documentary Child Stars

Demi Lovato is set to make her directorial debut with an upcoming Hulu documentary child stars, premiere will be in 2024.

Appropriate Rolling StoneLovato, who uses the pronouns she/they, gave details about the documentary in a press release.

“There’s no better film or subject for my directorial debut than this story closer to home,” the 30-year-old said in a statement.

The singer continued, “Our project shines a light on important messages about growing up in society, learning to protect our borders, and being active advocates of our own destiny.”

“I’m excited to learn from people who have had the unique experience of being a child star and to be able to share their stories in our film,” he said.

The magazine reported that Lovato’s documentary will feature interviews with the singer’s former child stars.

“The film reflects the changing nature of growing up in an increasingly connected and social world,” it said.

Belisa Balaban, VP of Documentary and Unscripted Series at Hulu Originals, commented, “Demi’s own experiences and personal relationships come boldly to light in this moving and exploratory film.”

“Our audience has long been interested in exploring the ins and outs of pop culture, and Demi’s story—harsh truths and all—fits the type of stories she’s fortunate to be able to tell on Hulu,” added Balaban.
