Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s attendance at King Charles’s coronation will affect their popularity in America, a PR expert has claimed.
talk to Express, PR expert Pauline McLaren said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should not look “silly” in response to an invitation to the historic event.
After confirming that Harry and Meghan had received invitations to the ceremony, a spokesperson for the couple said that “we will not be making an immediate decision” on whether they will attend the event at this time.
“They need royalty connections for their overall image in the US. The fact that they are so willing to use titles for their children shows that they want to be seen as a ‘royal family’ there,” the expert said.
“For this reason, their participation in such an important historical event as the Coronation will increase their royal value in the eyes of US fans,” added McLaren.
“However, if they go and are cold-shouldered – both by other royals and the British public – it could make them look foolish.
He continued: “Overall, I think it’s a good compromise for them and Harry himself will attend when Meghan makes an excuse for Archie’s birthday.
“This compromise reduces their risk of humiliation but allows them to complement their royal connections.”
