Rani Mukherjee reveals the type of story and characters that interest her when she chooses a script.
Films that tell stories from an Indian woman’s point of view are compelling and important to portray at the same time, she says.
While talking pink villa, Rani said, “I think the thing that excites me at this stage of my career today is to tell an important story through the Indian woman’s point of view every time. It’s something that evokes my emotions because I’m an Indian woman and I was a little girl, a young Indian girl, a young Indian woman, a married Indian woman and I’m a mother, so I think it’s very important for me to portray the emotions of Indian women.”
“I want a global audience to see what we Indian women are up to, which is very important because people can understand what is happening in the country through the lens of a woman who has been there. That’s why I think it’s very important for me to portray a character every time I play.”
He went on to say that genre never matters to him, it’s always the subject and character that draws him to a film.
“It’s never a genre for me. For me, I am always interested in the story, the subject and the character.”
