ISLAMABAD:
The State Bank of Pakistan on Friday issued a commemorative coin of 50 rupees to mark the golden jubilee of the Senate, the upper house of the Parliament of Pakistan.
The year 2023 will mark the golden jubilee of the Senate and on this occasion the federal government has authorized the central bank to issue a commemorative coin of Rs 50, the SBP said in a statement.
The Senate of Pakistan is the upper legislative house of the bicameral parliament with equal representation from all the provinces of Pakistan and it is a permanent house under the constitution.
The coin will be issued from March 17, 2023 through the exchange points of all branches of SBP Banking Services Corporation. The coin is 75% copper and 25% nickel, weighing 13.5 grams and measuring 30.0 mm in a round shape. .

The obverse of the coin features a crescent moon and a five-pointed star pointing to the northwest in the center, and the words on the obverse above the crescent star. “Islamic Jamhuriya Pakistan” written in Urdu script.
Beneath the crescent and two wheat springs with upturned hands, bearing the year of issue. The denomination of the coin is ’50’ in bold letters and ‘Rs’ written on the right and left side of the star respectively in Urdu script.
The obverse and centre-right of the coin features the insignia of the Senate of Pakistan with the artistic numeral 50.
At the top of the badge, along with the periphery, is the inscription “Pakistan Senate Golden Jubilee” in Urdu script. The duration of the golden jubilee (1973-2023) is written under the special symbols.
