The application deadline has been extended to March 30, as many universities are expected to choose the test for admission.
More than 200 universities have opted for the Common University Entrance Examination (CUET) for admission to undergraduate programs, up from 90 last year, according to the University Grants Commission.
The deadline for applications has been extended to March 30, as many universities are expected to choose a test for admission.
206 universities include 44 central universities and Barkatulla University, Bhopal, Dr. B.R. 33 public universities include Ambedkar School of Economics, Karnataka, Cotton University, Guwahati and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprasha University, Delhi.
“Today, the number of universities participating in the university entrance exam (CUET-UG) exceeds 200. Now it is 206, including 33 government universities,” said a senior UGC official.
The exam is scheduled to be held on May 21-31.
In March last year, the UGC had announced that undergraduate admissions in all central universities would be conducted through the Common Entrance Test and not on the basis of Class 12 marks.
The Undergraduate (UG) admission process for universities will end in July 2023 and the new academic session may begin on August 1.
The debut edition of CUET-UG was held in July last year and was marred by glitches, forcing the National Testing Agency to suspend the exam in many centres. Although several students were informed that the exam would be canceled a night before the exam, most of them refused the centers.
UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar said the examination at some centers has been canceled following reports of “sabotage”.
With an enrollment of 14.9 lakh, CUET, the common gateway to undergraduate admissions in all central universities, is now the second largest entrance exam in the country, surpassing JEE-Main’s average enrollment of 9 lakh.
