Malaika Arora remembers when people told her not to give up the Khan surname.
Malaika has made herself an important part of the industry with her hard work and talent. Talking about her breakup period with India Today, she said people credit her last name for her success.
“It’s been very helpful in my life, but I don’t think I can stop at having a famous last name. I don’t think that’s the gift I’ve given to everything in my life. It’s opened a lot of doors for me, but I think at the end of the day I have to work regardless of my married name. And I had to work hard and prove myself every day of my life to stay in the game. Well, the day I got my last name and the day I went back to my first name, I still continued to work, make a difference.”
according to News18, he went on to say, “I’ve been told by many people that I’m making the biggest mistake by giving up my last name. Many people tell me “you don’t understand the weight of your last name”. I respect my ex-boyfriends and my ex-family very much, they gave me a lot of love. I have a child, I am part of the family, but for me, I had to stand on my own two feet, not just a family name. For me, giving up my last name and going back to my maiden name made me feel like myself. It made me feel like I could do anything in life.”
